Greetings,

We all kmow how wonderful Kiki and Toby were together in the Spider-Man films, but I had no idea they were tops!

According to Forbes magazine, They are the most successful screen pairing in history!

1.  Kiki and Toby - Spider-Man movies - $2.5 billion worldwide!
2.  Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet - Titanic.
3.  Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill - Star Wars trilogy.
4.  Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones - Men in Black movies.
5.  Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd - Back to the Future movies.
6.  Mel Gibson and Danny Glover - Leathal Weapon movies.
7.  Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro - Meet the Parents movies.
8.  Tom Hanks and Tim Allen - Toy Story movies.
9.  Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan - Rush Hour Movies.
10.  Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski - Crocodile Dundee movies.

The famous upside-down kiss from the first film is also widely considered the Greatest Screen Kiss in history!

Not too bad...

Cheers,
- rsvpjrdot

Another nice analysis! Thanks for that, Rsvp! And Forbes magazine of course. Grin

It surprises me that the Pirate trio didn't make it into the top 10 though.

The most successful screen pairing, not shabby at all!

One thing to bear in mind with this list is it doesn't take inflation into account.
If it did Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh (Gone With The Wind) would be on a similar figure to Kirsten and Tobey, and Laurel and Hardy (albeit having made many more films together) would be way out in front.
No doubt many other "double acts" of the "Golden Age" of Hollywood would be on the list too.

seen at http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=4329816&page=1

"In terms of box office gross, as provided by Box Office Mojo, the most successful film duo in history is Spider-Man's Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. That big-budget franchise grossed $2.5 billion worldwide at the box office. (In all, it is believed to have cost nearly $600 million.) The original 2002 flick inspired the memorable kissing scene, in which Maguire's unmasked Spider-Man kissed Dunst's Mary Jane Watson upside down in the rain. "We wanted the audience to need them to be together for the picture to work," said Spider-Man director Sam Raimi in 2002. "When I saw Kirsten Dunst and Toby perform a scene together, they made that connection."
