This sunday evening will be the quarter Final of the European (UEFA) Soccer Championship.
Millions of people in all Europe will watch the Game Italy (the 2007 World Champion of Soccer) against Spain.

But one of the biggest european TV stations "Pro7" will send at the same time the german free- TV- premiere "Elisabethtown" with Kirsten Dunst, hoping to get also some hundred thousand of people away from sport channels to watch the beautifil and only Kirsten Dunst  Cheesy They believe much in this movie and in Kirsten Dunst great acting.

Will be interesting to know how much people will watch this movie instead of soccer.

Interesting. Soccer fans will highly likely miss the movie (if they haven't saw it in theaters or on DVD already), but I guess putting Elizabethtown's german tv premiere against the UEFA at least means the combination of Kirsten and Orlando are popular enough there.

1.65 million of people in Germany - from the other states I dont have data - watched it.
About 9.4 % of Germanys popolation watched it!

The soccer game Spain against Italy was watched by 17,23 millions and about 56,6 % of the population of Germany.

So its quite a big difference..... but for batteling against the quarter final its quite very good  Grin

I think it was kind of a nice compliment to have ET  aired against such heavy competition. They must have thought it had the best chance of doing well against the world's most popular sport (except for basketball).  I belive that the matter could be handled even better if Ms. Dunst were put in a soccer movie and it played during the soccer matches.  That would equalize the viewing even more.

In passing, I note that kforab and gkfi are both "senior" members, and that I am a "full" member.  I would urge John/Jess to elevate kforab and gkfi to my status, as age  should not be a barrier to advancement.

LOL hamlet snr member is a 'higher' grade than full member  Grin.

You need (i think) 250 posts to become a snr member.

So let's have more of your witty "chameleon-free"  Grin posts.

Yes i realise the irony of me (a full member with less posts than you) asking you to post more !.

9.4 % of Germanys popolation? I'm impressed! After all, it's a movie which is already on DVD for 2-3 years. Just for the spirit of experiment, I would love to see how thing will turn out if they put Wimbledon against the UEFA. Grin

Anyway, if only hamlet would willing to post more nonsense posts like me, he'd easily become a snr member. But since he's usually the witty one who posts lengthy threads,  I'm sure he would want to ?age? soon just yet. Grin

Hamlet the most popular sport in Europe is for sure soccer - called "Fussball "or ""football" in Europe - which has nothing to do with american football.

And your'e true- sometimes I feel quite "old"  - mostly after a night without sleep  Grin

Problem was to get the data how much people watched TV.... cause the organisation collecting these datas is "selling" this informations which are  important for advertising in TV at high price to TV- stations....
