I thought as this is now a confirmed new film I'd give it it's own topic.

Last thursday Kirsten recorded a radio interview for the Edith Bowman Show, which is broadcast every saturday morning on BBC radio 1. Part of the interview aired yesterday morning & the rest of the interview will be aired next saturday.

Anyway during the interview Kirsten was asked about her upcoming films. She mentioned "Upside Down", "On The Road" & "Bachelorette" (which she confirmed will be renamed & possibly with a title her mum had come up with!). She also mentioned that after she finished promoting "Melancholia" she was taking 3 months off before starting a new film in January.

Kirsten wouldn't give any details about the film itself. However she said the script was "interesting" but also described it as "weird" & said it would co-star Mark Ruffalo & Billy Crudup.

Now I think it's well know that Mark Ruffalo is one of Kirstens favourite actors & personally I'm delighted to see the two of them working together again.

I've checked all the possible upcoming projects that the three of them have been linked with & none of those films seem to fit Kirstens use of the word "weird" or the "I can't have my dad see this movie" comment she previously made when mentioning this film.

Title of thread edited on November 17th 2011 to include the name of the film.

I'm weirdly ( Grin) attracted to this top-secret project I guess. As far as I can remember, Kirsten has already mentioned it twice in recent interviews, but there's - strangely - no other media coverage/confirmation at all.

Now finally we know what this "weird" project is about.

According to Indiewire, in January Kirsten will star in another indie adapted from the stage, Adam Rapp's bleak drama "Red Light Winter, " which the NYT called "a frank, graphic story of erotic fixation and the havoc it can wreak on sensitive souls." The movie will co-star Mark Ruffalo and Billy Crudup.

I'm not sure I'd describe the films plot as weird but its very interesting to say the least.  Grin

When I read Kirsten's "I can't have my dad see this movie" comment my initial thought was that the film would most likely contain at least one of the following; sex, nudity, drug use or (a lot of) swearing. It looks like this film will have all four.  Shocked Grin

I really need to get that time machine finished.  Cheesy Wink

Here's a video interview with Adam Rapp from April this year. The last 30 seconds are quite interesting.

Thanks for the interview, John!
I knew this project was out there for a while, but didn't know Mark Ruffalo and Billy Crudup was casted way back in April.

Lars Knudsen and Jay Van Hoy, producers of Beginners starring Ewen McGregor, Melanie Laurent and Christopher Plummer, have signed an output and development deal with German-U.K. sales and production group K5.

The agreement between K5 and Knudsen and Van Hoy's Parts & Labor covers all current productions in development at the Brooklyn-based shingle.

These include Red Light Winter, Adam Rapp's adaptation of his own award-winning play, which Oscar-winning director Scott Rudin will co-produce and which has Mark Ruffalo and Kirsten Dunst attached to star; and The Womb from director Gregg Araki (Mysterious Skin).

Thanks for the info, John!
As long as it's happening, I'm fine with the schedule change. Would love to see Kirsten work with Mark Ruffalo again.

Here's an interview with Marc Ruffalo that mentions Red Light Winter.

It sounds like filming won't now take place until next year. Hopefully he means (very) early next year!  Grin
