Not sure if it's just a rumor or what.

Hipster director Robert Rodriguez (Grindhouse, Sin City) is reportedly in talks to direct the upcoming remake of the trippy Sid and Marty Krofft live action/stop motion animation kid's show, Land of the Lost.

For those of you too young (or with TV palates too sophisticated) to recall, the show ran from 1974-1977 and featured a family of three whose "routine expedition" went awry and landed them back in dinosaur time. Marshall, Will, and Holly, like most TV castaways, basically just tried to find ways to get back home while eluding the local dangers--in this case, dinosaurs and "Sleestak" (bipedal lizard-y looking things that moved pretty slowly and inexplicably hissed a lot).

Rodriguez's attachment to the film has not been finalized, but Will Ferrell (Blades of Glory, Talladega Nights) is reportedly set to play dad Rick Marshall. Rumored to be cast are Jack Black (Nacho Libre, School of Rock) as son Will and Kirsten Dunst (Spider Man, Marie Antoinette) as daughter Holly. With Ferrell and (possibly) Black aboard, the remake clearly won't be the moody dramafest that was the original show. Imagine Anchorman meets Jurassic Park.

My dad has a betamax cassette of that which I remembered way back where he kept it in his drawer.

It's a story of a family stranded in a jurassic era and trying to find their way back home while cunning away against sleestaks and dinos.

As I recall sleestaks can be repelled by throwing colored gems at them. Cool. Cheesy

We//, if Kiki's going to be in that movie, then expect a Swiss Family Robinson and Planet of the Apes movie kind of flick.  Grin

Well, Kiki was in talks for this movie in 2004..
I don't think she will appear in it, but it would be great..
I love Jack Black.. Cheesy

As iRe has already posted this film was first mooted over 2 years ago (i think it was early 2005).
If i remember correctly the story at the time (which mentioned the exact same potential cast but not Robert Rodriguez) originated from an interview with some producer, and sounded to me like the guy was trying to drum up interest in the project.
Personally i'm very doubtful that this film will ever get made, and even if it does i seriously doubt any of the people mentioned will be connected with it.
Maybe it's me but Will Ferrell playing the father of Jack Black ?!  Cheesy

Now that's explains why I thought I heard the project somewhere before.
Will Ferrell playing the father of Jack Black is absurb enough, and he'll be Kiki's father? LOL!! This is gonna be a dysfunctional family!
