I really enjoy Kirsten in movies like The Virgin Suicides and Interview with the Vampire and bring it on. These films showcase her beauty and talent.
Personally, I think Marie Antoinette doesn't do justice to Kirsten's beauty and talent and full scope as an actress. She's much more talented than to sit around in costumes, not allowing herself to really show what a talented actress she is.

Greetings,

I must disagree with Sondra (kikid).  The fact that there was very little dialogue in Marie Antoinette makes it a very difficult role for an actor to pull off.  In this regard I think Kiki was fabulous - it is hard to imagine some other actress doing a better job.  You may not like the movie - many didn't, but that does not affect the way Kiki handled the material.

Marie Antoinette was a very unusual movie, which European audiences liked much better than American audiences did (74 percent of the box office receipts came from overseas - the most skewed of all of her 41 movies!).  However, many thought the movie was brilliant, including both Variety and the New York Times (and me).

It is interesting that many liked her in The Virgin Suicides and not this movie.  To me, they are both very visual movies that relay on body language, facial expressions, and eyes.  Not on dialogue.  In this regard, Kiki is about as good as it gets - those eyes, those eyes. . .

My own personal favorites are as follows:

Best movie
Eternal sunshine, Spider-Man 2, Crazy/Beautiful.

Best acting by Kiki
Crazy/Beautiful, Marie Antoinette, Interview with a Vampire.

Best comedic performance
Drop Dead Gorgeous, Dick, Strike!

Best hair
The Virgin Suicides, Bring It On, Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Best boyfirend
Bring It On, Crazy/Beautiful, Spider-Man (s).

Worst boyfriend
Mona Lisa Smile. . .

Take charge Kiki
Strike!, Small Soldiers.

Most underrated performance
Levity, Eternal Sunshine, Cat's Meow.

Prettiest Kiki
Drop Dead Gorgeous, Bring It On, Marie Antoinette, The Virgin Suicides, Lover's Prayer, Get Over It, Wimbledon, Spider-Man (s), Dick, Elizabethtown, . . .

Movies I seen the most number of times,
Wimbledon, Crazy/Beautiful, Spider-Man 2.

Guilty pleasure movies
Bring It On, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Get Over It.

Worst movie I enjoy watching
Tower of Terror.

Hottest cast
Get Over It - Kiki, Mila Kunis, Zoe Saldana, Carmen Electra, Vitamin C, Melissa Sagemiller, and Kylie Bax.

I could go on, . . . but you get the point - Kiki is the greatest!

I think she is a great comedic actress - I can't wait for her new movie with Sinom Pegg!

Cheers,
- rsvpjrdot

Exactly! I too think Marie Antoinette and Virgin Suicides are the same kind of movies. They're more about the dreamlike feeling, the journey inside those girls than the dialogues. It's hard for any actress to pull off the performances in these two movies because of their emphasis on body language, facial expressions, and subtle emotional convey, but our amazing Kiki somehow managed to be perfect effortlessly. And it's even hard for a director to pull all these together I have to say.

As rsvpjrdot said,  it is indeed interesting that many liked her in The Virgin Suicides and not MA. Maybe many were turned off by MA's unconventional period drama handle, or maybe most people who liked the Virgin Suicides but not MA can related to 1970s' teenager more than historical figure.  But even if you don't like the movie, you gotta love the subtle performance Kiki gave.

By the way, rsvpjrdot, your best lists are always creative! Love it!

I have to say, after reading all your posts about MA, I have to agree that Kirsten's performance in the film was extraordinary. I've always known that Kirsten is about the only young actress around who can deliver an original and superb performance with just about any material she is given, especially one with little dialogue.

However, as I said, I love Kirsten in this film. I bought the DVD of MA and it's one of my treasured possessions, even though I REALLY  wanted to see a more dramatic film, one where Kirsten had the chance to show she can speak beauitfully with a French accent, and have an audience feel the heartfelt emotion that the queen really had in her life. I was disappointed that there was no beheading. I wanted to see it all - the dramatic performance of a lifetime.
