Appearently we will hear Kirsten in another animated movie.  Imdb gives the following plotline: "Poignant coming-of-age story of a precocious and outspoken young Iranian girl that begins during the Islamic Revolution."

May 24, 2007
The Iranian government has lodged a protest with France over a showing of the animated movie based on Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis graphic novel at the Cannes Film Festival where it is one of twenty-two films in competition for the festival's top prize.  The black and white film, which is faithful to Satrapi's distinctive drawing style and character design, was produced in France and will be distributed here in the fall by Sony Pictures Classics.

Regardless of whether or not the film wins a prize at Cannes, it should do well in its American arthouse release this fall thanks in part to a stellar vocal cast that includes Gena Rowlands, Catherine Deneuve, Sean Penn and Kirsten Dunst.

Wow! Persepolis! I'm dying to see this movie even before heard Kiki's attachment to it. I've seen the French trailer for this, maybe Kiki will voice the little girl in it? It's been a while since the last we had heard Kirsten in an animated movie, simply can't wait!

I'm not sure now if Kirsten will be among the vocal cast for this film. I read an article recently (which typically i now can't find  Grin) that mentioned that most of the original vocal cast of the French language version would now be reprising their roles for the English language version.
This included the actress who voiced the main character in the film, which seemed the most likely role for Kirsten in the English version.

I think one of the Hollywoodreporter article mentioned this a while back.

Sean Penn and Iggy Pop will voice roles in the North American version of Sony Pictures Classics' French animated political drama "Persepolis."

It's the first animated role for Penn, who will lend his voice to the father of a young girl struggling with life in Iran during and after the fall of the Shah in 1979. Pop, who has voiced roles in animated series like Comedy Central's "Lil' Bush," will play her politically active uncle.

Gena Rowlands has already been cast to voice the role of the girl's grandmother in the new version, and Catherine Deneuve will reprise the French-language role of the girl's mother in English. The film is tentatively slated for domestic theatrical release at the end of 2007.

So there's only one role left-- Marjane 'Marji' Satrapi, the main character as a teenager and a woman. The role was voiced by Chiara Mastroianni in the French version.

gkfi i have seen that article, which makes no mention of Kirsten, but i'm sure i read a similar article shortly afterwards that mentioned that Chiara Mastroianni would also be reprising her role too.
Or perhaps i just imagined it  Grin

Yeah, I remember seeing the article that mentioned Chiara Mastroianni would also be reprising her role too, the article also mentioned Chiara Mastroianni as Catherine Deneuve's daughter. The weird thing is I can't find that article now.  Roll Eyes

So I guess we didn't just imagined it. Grin

EDIT:  I happen to find that article today.

Chiara Mastroianni, Deneuve's daughter, will voice the lead character of Satrapi as she did in the French version.

I guess Kirsten's too busy to do this in the summer.

Adriano, I must have been reading it at the same time.  I was confused by one thing--- is Kathleen Turner the producer or Kathleen Kennedy?  Not too important, but Kirsten worked with K. Turner, and I was just curious.

From what I read, I'd think it's Kathleen Kennedy.

Re the articles, I'd trust Variety's news over PersianMirror. I hope I was wrong though, 'cause hearing Kirsten in another animated movie, especially a highly-praised movie would be fantastic!
