Greetings,
I am writing today to get some help answering a question that has plagued me for some time. What better place to get the answer than an international group of Kirsten Dunst fans.
Strike! is a sweet, funny film about an all-girls school set in 1963. In it, we see a lovely 15 year-old Kiki as an aggressive, self-assured, troublemaker, whose mischievousness is reknowned at Miss Goddards. Kiki really shows her comedic talents, a year before she went on to make Dick and Drop Dead Gorgeous.
In Europe, the movie is known as Strike! In the US, we have All I Wanna Do, and in Australia, The Hairy Bird.
The movie had a brief release in 1998. Nobody went to see it. They pulled it, did some editing, renamed it, and re-released it. Again, nobody went to see it.
Now for my question. I have the US version which runs 96 minutes. Apparently the original movie was 110 minutes. When I see the movie, I can tell a couple of spots where I am sure something was removed.
Does anyone have the 110 minute version?
Based on some circumstantial evidence, I think the Australian version is the original.
The DVD screencaps are in our Gallery, which I made from the US version. If people who have the movie called The Hairy Bird or Strike! could look at those, they might be able to tell if some scenes have been removed.
The opening credits, and especially the ending song are a bit raunchy, and I expect the OZ version has retained these, since they retained the original title.
Any help on these extremely important global issues would be much appreciated.
Cheers, - rsvpjrdot
